Chef Rudy Straker is a Celebrity Chef, Executive Chef and Businessman, and already a pioneer in the culinary industry. The amazing part is he’s just getting his feet wet.
Raised along with two brothers by his Cuban and Bajan parents in Queens, NY, Chef Rudy garnered much of his inspiration and passion for the industry through his time spent at the renowned Institute of Culinary Education (Peter Kump’s New York Cooking School). Upon graduating, he embarked upon his professional career by gaining employment at some of the finest local and regional restaurants and hotels in NY such as the Patria and Mariott Corporation. It was at the Patria where Executive Chef Douglas Rodriguez took notice and added Chef Rudy to his award-winning team. Rodriguez immediately converted into Chef Rudy’s mentor. Here, Chef Rudy further refined his skills and abilities. Eventually, he needed to spread his wings, and moved to Miami, Florida.
While in Miami, he gained a wide client list by catering for clients within the film and television industry. Concurrently, he caught the eye of Chef Maxcel Hardy and was recruited to work alongside him at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood Florida as Executive Sous Chef. He later returned to New York City, alongside Chef Maxcel Hardy, anchoring his company Chef Max New York, and working as Part-time Chef to NBA star Amar’e Stoudemire.
As a result, Chef Rudy served as the Executive Chef at the world renowned Madison Square Garden in NYC for two years before resigning to focus full-time on his own successful Private Chef and Catering businesses. Founded in 2013, Chef Rudy LLC and ROS Catering are two high end, upscale catering companies that focus on Private Chef work, Corporate and Private Event Catering as well as dinner parties to clients in the tri- state area. Within both of these positions,Chef Rudy has prepared dishes for some very high profile clients such as Ben Stiller, Liam Neilson, Taylor Swift, JR Smith, NY Knicks Owner James Dolan, Kate Upton, Tyrese, Sarah Jessica Parker, Willie Randolph and Whoopi Goldberg, to name a few.
Chef Rudy is also the CEO, Manufacturer and Distributor of OMG-Lato! Gelato & Ices, made with all-natural ingredients in variety of delicious flavors. OMG-Lato! is currently sold at Madison Square Garden and restaurants in New York City, and is expected to be available at other major sports and entertainment venues across the Tri-State area within the next few weeks.
With everything he does, Chef Rudy reaffirms his commitment to the elevation of the culinary arts. He is a passionate advocate for keeping food simple by using the best ingredients and artistically prepares and presents his dishes in their purest form. He intends to continue to draw on his Cuban and Bajan roots by continuing a tradition of subtle fusion of flavors and influences and has recently added Latino/Asian and Caribbean notes to the palate.
